    Default Jordan 1/23/09

Ended up with 43. Started late, about 1 pm til 5;45. Could locate and mark plenty of crappie, but the bites still the same--slow and slower. You can catch plenty of 5 to 9'' fish but the good ones are hidin out somewhere. Our best 1 was 14 1/2'', around 1 1/2 lb. Had 14 keepers but we ended uip giving all of em away except the big one which I put back to grow. Its a strange winter this year with the fish. Majority of fish caught in and around 64 bridge and the flats at it, mainly in 24 to 29 ft water, on the bottom, minnows double rigged. Like Mike I was glad to see warden checking on boats but he left to soon. Only checked boats on the side me and mike was on, then took off. Theres just no need to keep any 10'' fish at jordan cause theres so many bigger ones there. We dont keep any under 12'' and my freezer is full. Looked for you there chief but you was probably gone that late in day.

I am green with envy today. I can't fish much anymore except on Saturdays, and wouldn't you know it, a bad head cold is keeping me at home today. The only consolation I have is the Duke-Maryland game at noon today. I'll be back out there with you guys next Saturday. Question: did the cold from the past week lower the lake temperatures? From the Army Corps of Engineers website it looks like the water temp is about the same. B. Everett Jordan - Cape Fear River Basin

Actually John, I was at the effin dermatologist from 6:45 til 12:30. Had a couple of skin cancers taken off my hand and arm. They do this MOHS surgery, where they take the minimal amount and check it under the microscope until they get it all. Had to go back 3 and 4 times respectively, then one last time for final excision and stitches.
For all you guys who go out there in the summer, take care of your skin, especially if you are fair haired and of Celtic descent. Those sexy suntans are not worth the pain later in life.
John, I did go Thursday afternoon. Caught about 40-50 up in the S curves with 19 keepers. 27-32 ft deep on brown/chartruese and black/chartruese. But I never saw the man. Happy to see they are checking.

Good job Enoman! That was the first time I've ever seen the man on Jordan. Thursday night I was talking with a friend of mine and he said everytime he goes to Jordan he gets checked. I guess I'm usually up there on the right days.

Yep, Minnowboy and I were there fishing on the southside of the bridge away from the crowd. We were in the white Tahoe...the first ones the warden checked on that side. No problem...I'm always legal. That's only the second time I've been checked at Jordan and first time was at 64 bridge last January. We kept 18 crappie from 11" to 14" and one 2-3 lb kitty. Had a fine day until ready to leave and realized I had left the blower running for hours and killed the cranking battery. Luckily I had jumper cables and enough trolling battery left to jump her off. It was nice to not have to fight the wind. Actually after lunch we could have used a little wind...never pleased.

    Default Jordan Fishing

Would like to say everyone had such good luck. Got skunked. Did see a few fish landed around the 64 bridge. But with 14 boats in the vicinity, only saw about 10 fish landed, and those were by two boats.

We saw ya out there Olefisher (didn't know it was you though). Looked like the man wrote a ticket to the guy between you and the bridge. I beleive you're right, a little wind would've kept the bite going a little better.
