Hey Camohull, I have a 198 DLX. I have had it many lakes, rivers and in the ocean. The DLX is a completely flat bottom boat. Carolina Skiff makes some boats with a small V in the hull.

    Pros:
    VERY stable boat
    fairly inexpensive
    lots of room
skinny water ( I have made it through waster less than 8")

    Cons:
    harsh ride in chop
    sloppy steering in wind

This is my first boat. I bought it in Dec 06. Good boat.

let me know if you have other questions.

    Regards,

    Bill

the dlv has a little more frills in the steps and extra storage but dlx has more space - the rails on the dlx are the perfect height to put your rod holders - the dlv rides a little better but the dlx is a lot drier - over all I think the dlx is a little better for the crappie fisherman - don't get me wrong I thought changing over because of the steps in the boat - but then i thought again and decided it was cheaper to step on my cooler

I'd say the DLX because of the rails. You can set up rodholders and other stuff on the rails without buying a whole lot of other stuff.

Can you put a seat on the front deck for dunking minnows or do just fish from the middle or back of the boat? THANKS CAMOHULL
