Are we allowed to place brush piles in Jorden Lake ? I know its state property just wounding.
Plowboy:)
Without knowing the actual laws, I would say not legal to just go out and drop stuff in the lake.
You may be able to get permission but I wouldn’t know where to direct you.
Honestly there’s plenty of brush and cover in Jordan. I feel my time is better spent hunting down fish and cover, than pouring concrete in buckets and dragging brush on my boat.
Personally, I troll on Jordan and learning the seasonal movement of the fish has been way more valuable than any individual brush piles.

GET IN, SIT DOWN, HOLD ON, AND BE VEWY VEWY QUITE!!!!!
We put some brushpiles out on Jordan about six years ago and a total waste of time. All we ever caught were a few bluegill and 6"-8" crappie. The keeper crappie on Jordan are suspended or in the standing timber.
Lots of brush is dropped under the cover of darkness A few get dropped in broad daylight this time of year simply because hardly any boat traffic so nobody will see what you are doing nor know where you dropped brush.
Seriously it's not a bad idea to contact the Corps of Engineers(or whoever controls the lake). My understanding is most of who controls lakes usually don't mind you dropping brush as long as it's environment safe-no grease/oil buckets, tires are a no-no, not something that could be a hazard to boats/skis if the lake level got low. I've made many brushpiles over the years and it's a lot of work but the reward can be great if you go about it right.
A couple times years ago members of this forum have got together and pitched in and made brush piles and dropped them in some of the lakes.
With the Corps of Engineers it is easier to ask forgiveness than to ask for permission
