Tev I have tried wateree for a little bit after a days striper fishing a few times and never did any good with cranks there. But I have never put in a full day and actually looked for them. Probably headed to high rock Wednesday to try. Grandkids and nephew have bd and graduation parties Sat and Sun so nothing this weekend. Today is my last day at school for a month or so. Hope to get in a few days on the Rock!

Got out yesterday with my oldest..... wasn't sure what to expect but I was cautiously optimistic. Water temp ranged from 70* --> 74*, which is slightly cooler than when I normally start pulling cranks but got to it, nonetheless.

It wasn't hot and heavy but consistent overall. I don't believe the vast majority of fish have stacked up in the main lake yet so I think we were picking up roamers more than anything else but while the quantity was down, the quality was way up. We started getting picky and ended up bringing home 15 specks that were all 11 1/2 --> 12" (we don't keep anything under 10" or over 12").

The summer Sunday chaos started around 10:30 A.M. and we put the boat on the trailer just before noon. No complaints there!

Didn’t get to go Wednesday but got out for a little over 2 1/2 hrs. Kept 6 or 7 nice ones for supper and probably threw 10 or 12 back. Wasted almost an hour on the main lake with nothing. No bait or fish. All fish were inside creeks. Those crankbaits were calling them. Lol. Also had what had to be a huge cat almost spool one of my baitcasters loaded with 20 lb braid before breaking me off and making off with a little bandit.

Was out Friday from 5:30 —> 11:00 A.M. Kept my 20, all between 10-12”. Probably 20 throwbacks along with a million stripers and 13 dandy catfish.

Headed back out tomorrow with hopes that the pleasure boater traffic subsides a bit.

First question is when you’re comin.

If during the week, I’d put in at Tamarac and start pulling from the ramp, under the bridge and out to the main lake…. Staying in 13-16 fow. I’m still not convinced the fish are on the main lake (yet) so focus on the mouths of the creeks with close access to the main channel.

Do you have line counter reels, etc? What kind of cranks you running? How many rods?

    Lot of variables.
