On Shearon Harris, I went night fishing 1-2 days before Ian hit the Carolinas. The fishing was noticeably slower that a few weeks earlier and the Shad did not school in giant masses like they did before.
After the storm passed, I fished a few days later on Jordan lake, and have gone several times since then. I have tried tightlining and bottom bouncing minnows, slow trolling jig heads tipped with minnows, and pulling crappie cranks. All have done equally poor.
I know the crappie are there (I can see them on the livescope), but why are they not biting? The weather has been beautiful, but the fish seem to have had lockjaw lately.
Anyone have any insight or tips into how I can put a few fall slabs in the boat? Thanks very much in advance.
