Well Buggs/Kerr is messed up again with more rain on the way. The bite for big fish has been tough for a few weeks now. With that being said GeneC says to come on down and fish Lake Gaston with him. It wasn't hard to convince me.
Gene really has some nice fish located on Gaston even with the heavy inflow of muddy water from Buggs. We have really caught some quality fish casting hair and plastic jigs to crappie anywhere from 8 to around 22 feet deep, most around brush. Most fish have not been aggressive and you really had to present your bait just right to get bit. We caught at least 30 quality crappie each trip with only a couple under 10".
We have been twice in the last couple of weeks. First trip our biggest 7 crappie went 11 pounds even. Our latest trip on Thursday our biggest 7 went 11.50 pounds. Both trips produced several crappie over 2 pounds. Our biggest was 16-1/2" and weighted 2.29 pounds. Here are some pictures from these 2 trips. Thanks again Gene, I look forward to going again. I know the crappie at Gaston don't get allot of attention. It may not have the numbers but it sure has the quality!

You got my attention real quick! Nice fish Roy! Haven't been out in over a month and it will be almost two months before I can get out there again. I got eye surgery coming up middle of Jan and that will slow me down some. Seeing all these fish pictures is getting me itching to go. Thanks!

Nice fish Roy. That is the best I have ever seen from Gaston. Yes, Buggs has been tough lately, especially yesterday in the tournament.

Gene has them figured out pretty good on Gaston. Buggs has been tough for me as well. Has been hard to catch much over 7 pounds for 7 fish.
