If you do a search on this forum, Hyco hasn't been mentioned since 2017. I'm sure there are those who would like for it to stay that way. LOL But, I will let the cat out of the bag. There are some good crappie in that lake. Before you load up the boat and head out, let me give you the details. You have to pay to play. $25 for a day pass, or $75 for a season pass. Once the weather turns nice the lake will be over crowded with pleasure boaters, so the $75 bucks will only buy you about 3-4 months of peaceful fishing. However, with the local lakes and rivers being shut down from all the heavy rain, it was a good alternative yesterday. My buddy Billy and I fished from 8-1 and caught over 40 crappie. Most were over 10" and we had 5 or 6 that were in the 1.5 lb range. The marina on the lake sells minnows and they have a grill for breakfast/lunch. There is a 8" size limit and a 20 fish creel limit. The game warden and lake authority patrol it regularly. I'll try to post some pictures from my phone.
