Well you can come on over to badin and fish the yadkin chain trail
Looks like the river is about to crest, but the lake is really rising fast. Too bad, it was just getting back down to normal.

Thought I would add a little more information as to why Jordan Lake was created back in the '70's. About a mile or so down the Haw River from the Jordan Dam, the Deep River from the High Point/Greensboro area join to form the Cape Fear River. Floods over the centuries at Fayetteville and Wilmington had leaders in Washington trying to find a solution. That is why Jordan was created. The Deep River has no dam that can back up the water and you can see that in the first graph below. The river is flowing at about 30,000 cfs.
The Haw River does have a dam that has gates that can be closed to prevent down river flooding. You can see that in the second graph--the water is flowing at 1,000 cfs. Obviously, gates on the dam have been closed and will remain closed until the Deep River returns to normal. They will then open the gates on Jordan and let the lake return to normal. Had a little time and wanted to share this info with you on a quiet Friday afternoon.
Come on up to badin. Fish still gotta eat. Lol

I have lived in Fayetteville since 1969 so I know what Jordan does for us. I have also seen how the Corp has learned over the years how to protect the lower Cape Fear River bason. Some of the older people say the river stays high too much. What they don't see is that it floods less. I like the slow release even if the river does stay high longer. I think they are doing a great job with Jordan outflow.
Crappie are still deep rite ?
Good question and we may not know the answer for awhile. This morning, Jordan is at 227.64, over 11 feet above normal. Usually when the water is this high, they close the boat ramps. May not be able to fish for a week or so to find out if they have started moving or not.

And more rain in the forecast for this week! It may be a month before we can fish Jordan at this rate.
Just get him on, then we'll worry about getting him in!
Corps projected lake level for 2/17 is 225.5 and that is not including any rain that may fall this week is my understanding.
Boy I'm ready to go.
