Wow
I recently contacted Humminbird customer service about the problems I was having with my Onix 10 SI Crosstouch. I original bought one new in July 2015. In November 2017 it quit working and I had to send it back for repair at a cost of $475. I really like the Onix as it communicates with my Minn Kota trolling motor. I purchased a used Onix off a bass pro who had 4 of them on his boat so I would have a backup in case the repaired one ever broke again. It takes around 2 weeks to send one off and get it back and I can not wait that long when the Hybrids are biting.
The original unit started giving problems again this September and I contacted Humminbird and they stated that the repair is only warranted for 90 days. I was not happy to say the least. I then decided to use the used unit and went to do an update on it. While doing the update the unit crapped out and never would power back on. After another call to Humminbird they decided to fix the used unit for free and charge me for the repair on the first unit. The customer service rep asked me to send a letter about my problems to the service department. In the letter I explained I have always purchased Humminbird since the days of flashers, paper graphs, etc. I also let them know I have bought 5 Minn Kota trolling motors with no problems and 8 electric Canon Down Riggers, over many years of fishing. Johnson Outdoors owns all three companies.
After sending both units to them I waited for 10 days for the Service Center to call or email with amount I owed them. I finally called back and was told two new head units had been sent back to me at no charge. Imagine my surprise when I received two brand new SOLIX 10 CHIRP MEGA SI GPS in factory boxes with new mounts, transducers, etc. They retail for $2299 each.
That my friends is customer service and why I will always be a Johnson Outdoors customer

I've always had good success with Johnson myself. I've heard some real horror stories concerning that "Other" company. Even had a fishing guide I really trust tell me his problems with them.... and they were his sponsor at one time.
Johnson is the way to go. You'll enjoy those MEGA Solix displays. They're sweet..............
That's great news.
My Humminbird experience was the exact opposite and their attitude switched me to Garmin for the next 20 yrs and probably $8K. Good to hear they have learned their lesson.
