Putting this question out hear just to see how you guys feel about clear monofilament verses hi viz yellow when spider rigging. Do you all think it matters either way to the fish while pushing jigs , and what pound test do y'all use? I personally use clear izorline 6 lb test and thinking about trying some 10 lb hi viz izorline to see if there's much difference in what the fish think. Just curious !

i just cant make myself use a bright yellow line, just goes against everything ive ever been taught but folks use it, only one way to really find out, to me experimentation is part of the real fun of fishing, i love trying new things and seeing how the fish respond, and its almost never the way u woulda thought

I have used hivis the last couple of years and will continue to use it. I have had bad luck with the vicious line and mr crappie. I find that after using them one or two times you have to break off about ten foot or so to get back to good line. It breaks easy with your hands. I am using suffix line now. Seeing if it is any better. I bought some Berkeley xl in blue 6 pound test to try it. Those rods we were using had 12 lb test suffix line on them with a 8 lb leader and we caught fish at high rock. You could use a fluorocarbon leader in 6 lb test.

Probably the biggest reason I use hi visibility line (I use clear line too)is if lines get tangled it makes it easier to untangle. I really can't tell any difference in one line catching more fish

I run bass pro 4lb hi vis on all of my rods except my crank bait rods. They have 10lb hi vis. When I have more than 2 people fishing I will use my crank bait rods. The 4lb has hands down always out fishes the 12lb. You may be thanking 4lb is pretty light but it's all in your set up. Drag has to be set right, don't muscle the fish let the rod do the work and always net the fish. I do not like vicious line at all I've had it break just tying knots mr. Crappie works pretty well from my experience but by far I like this bass pro brand the best. I have caught 8lb striper and plenty of catfish the biggest was close to 20 to 25 lb on this line.

If you're spider rigging with trolling weights...... I'd think the weight would be seen before any line of any sort.

My penny, use colored line so YOU can see your line better and go with heavier line will prevent the curls you get from being pulled over the end guide of the rod. I've also been experimenting with a high vis braid. I know it hasn't hurt my vertical fishing but haven't pushed or pulled anything with it yet.

cant say about spider rigging,But longlining crappie don't care one bit.I use red, clear, yellow, orange, and camo line. The only thing I try to do is make sure I don't have two of the same colors side by side.As far as brands of 6lb. line I have never seen a lot of difference, except with Suffix, its slick as owl poop to begin with,But it comes in orange.I use different colors for my wifes benefit helps her see whitch way to untangle lines when its not too bad.

I use Mr. Crappie hi vis 8 lb down to a small barrel swivel, then 2 ft of 6 lb fluorocarbon to jig or minnow rig.

Let's see what line color in used by the clash winner(s). That may provide a clue for us rookies.
