    Default Harris General Report

This is general observations from fishing April and the last three weekends or so. This is a multi-species report but I tend to concentrate on crappies.

    1. This has been a very strange spring. Fishing has been so different than previous years for me - in general not as good.
    2. My goto brush piles have not produced. I had one good session on a brush pile in the middle of the day about three weeks ago. Nearly had a heat stroke but they were biting good so I couldn't leave. Otherwise, the brush piles that usually produce a lot of quality fish - nada.
    3. I waiting and waited for the bream spawn to start. Hit my usually beds. Nada! Had to find new spots which was fun, but again the bream spawn was so strange this year.
    4. Yesterday the fish were in 9-10 fow. Couldn't find the crappie but the white perch were out of their minds biting anything I dropped in the water.

Anyhow, that's how my spring went

I think the temperature of the water had a lot of the fish confused. Warm February followed by a very cold March keep the temp's low way later than normal. We fished a bluegill tournament at the end of April during the full moon and no fish on beds. I just think the cold weather had them all messed up.

Bluegills on beds in many of the ENC rivers right now. No idea what the water temps are though, I haven't been. Getting my info second hand, but it's very reliable.

Absolutely. I kept going thinking "they should be on the beds now" but the weren't. When they were finally on the beds a lot my historically good spots were not happening, and I mean not even a nibble. Maybe they were in and out quick and I missed them but usually there are a few small fish left behind to nibble at your bait. Had to search out new spots for bream spawn, found some good ones so happily I added to the mental list of spots to check next year
