    Default Stagecoach Road fishin

went over Sunday for a day of fishin since I had heard so much about the place and thought in my usual fashon I would surely have bad timing. Well I was half right. Didnt catch but 3 white bass but the crappie in there are hogs. Chief you are right about them Jordan crappie. I was using Minnows and thats why I think I was getting the crappie while most were just getting white bass. It was a slow day though and only 12 fish for the day. One of those was a hugh bowfin several of which I saw caught there and that was some fun to fight. That crappie is a tad over 13 inches,

how deep were you catchin' them crappie? Was it around the flooded timber, closer to bridge pilings, or out in the middle?

If you were looking at the road from the dam they were to the right of the stream going under the bridge and I had the depth set at 2 ft some and then down to 4 ft. Minnow on a white grub jig head, just let it sit a while and twitch it back as the current carried it so as not to interfier with anyone else fishing the area.

I dont know how true this is but have heard some say that you should not eat the fish out of that area for some unknown reason. Has anyone heard the reason for this before I start growing strange appendages from eating these fish? lmao It flows right into jordan lake so if its bad there its bad in the lake too I would think.

BTW...not sure about the specific pollution problems in the stagecoach area...but if there is any kind of contamination in that area the fish to worry most about would be bottom feeders (i.e. catfish and carp). The crappie and white bass should be fine regardless. Especially since the white bass (and some of the crappie) are travelling upstream from the lake to spawn and haven't spent much time in that section of stream. However, if you start seeing sores or lesions on a high percentage of your fish, I wouldn't eat.

I ate some white bas out of there last week. I'm still fine. Where is there a baitshop close to there where I can buy minnows? I am coming from NC State down 40W and onto the 751 exit.
What's worse, to be in church wishing you were fishin' or to be fishin' and know you should be in church?
