Default LKN Monster, personal best striper. 1st trip of 2018

Man it was cold cold cold. Met up with one of my former cop buddies and tried to do a little work on them.!

Before i could get the entire spread out, the downrigger with my A-rig got thumped hard and line started zinging. That never happens. Gave my buddy the opportunity to grab it, but he insisted I was closer and his fingers were still numb.

About 5min later we had a hard time netting my personal best freshwater striper. THICK and just a shade over 34 1/2 inches, weighing in on my digital scale at 17.44lbs! Might I include this was my first fish of 2018. Its going to be a good year.

We picked away at them all day. At days end we must have released about 25 hybrids/stripers to include another 10lber.

Had yet another huge hybrid at 25 1/8 inch weighing 6.2lbs.

At days end there were icicles hanging off the motor and all around the sides of the boat. Ill do it again in a heartbeat!

Who is ready to freeze out there again in the coming days?!?Name: 20180103_104944.jpg

And to think you almost gave it away! Great trip and pictures Pete! It was cold also on Wylie today. Remus and I got a couple new year crappies and some large perch to start our year off right. Thanks for your report!

One of the best sounds in the world is when a nice sized striper starts peeling line.

That's awesome! I hope to get my son on some larger stripe this year. He'll flip out when he feels one of those hammering on the line.

Nice going Pete. If it don't blow a gale Friday I'll be there. My tagged fish I caught yesterday was 221/2 inches and 3 stripers we got yesterday were 30, 311/2, 33. Not bad for Norman. We also through back some nice hybirds/stripers , me and countryboy had a ball yesterday. Congrats on your personal best and thanks for taking that young man fishing. Hope to see ya on the water.
