    Default Check Those SI/DI Transducers

I've had trouble getting the Solix dialed-in right the past few weeks. In the first shot, you will see one side is too hot and the other fades away into dark. I did some research on YouTube and found out you need to do the coin-level test with the transducer. With the boat just bumped into gear, take about a 10-inch level and put on the side of the boat. Put coins under the end facing the back of the boat until it is level. Take the boat out of the water and onto flat ground. After putting the level and coins back onto the same place, use a jack or crank the tongue up until the boat is level with bubble in the middle. Then take the level back to the transducer and make sure it is level from front to back.

Another tip was to put the level on the back of the boat and see if the transducer bracket is the same as the boat. Our boat was way off on both, as you will see in some shots below. I will not say who, but a boat dealer/mechanic installed the transducer. Please, DON'T depend on some so-called expert to make sure your transducer is right.

Bottom-line, lesson was definitely learned that you can have a great fish finder of any brand, but if you don't get the transducer right, getting the results you need will be difficult. We put the Targa into Harris and got our coin level right. Pulled it back into the parking lot and got out the drill and tools. Put boat back into the water and what a difference it made. You can tell by the pictures. By the way, you will see lots of fish in these shots. Probably a combination of crappie and perch.

SI dialed-in right with transducer leveled. In the second shot, what looks like clouds are just that--clouds of shad!!

Wow, great info. I'l have to get the level out and pennies to level the boat.
I have adjusted the txponder several time on the trailer using the water line on the boat, however never thought about side to side level, probably should try with 1/2 full( 17 gallons left side) gas tank and full bait tank (40 gallons right side)

I've never had pictures like those, where's the deep area in the center?

The lighter colors are either shallower or hard/sandy bottom. If you look at the pink line in the GPS chart in the bottom picture, that is the creek channel. You can see I was close to the creek channel in most of the screen shots.
