    Default Rodhiss Crappie

Hello fellow fishing buddy!! I'm from up here in asheville and i have made the trip down a couple times to fish Rodhiss but it was always for bass. But i was thinking about going down and trying to get a mess of crappie. Someone was telling me that Rodhiss was a good place for it. Do you fish it much and would you recommend trying it later this week? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm a youth minister up here at a local church and i'm trying to get a trip planned to take a couple of my youth. So i know that they would appreiciate it too. So thank you for any assistance!!
    May God Bless!!

SavedbGrace--nice handle:-)--am going to Rhodhiss tomorrow, depending on how blows the wind. From the looks of it, Friday looks good, or at least that's what meterologists say--which in spring, isn't terribly reliable. Honestly, I'd listen to Crowderj's advice and fish Connelly Creek areas--if coming from A-ville, go as you would go to Rhodhiss--I assume down I-40, and after going over Castle Bridge keep going until you get to Dry Ponds Road and turn right. Go "a ways." Several miles, or so it seems, and BE ON LOOKOUT FOR A NC WILDLIFE SIGN ON LEFT, which seems sort of hidden, and turn immediately at that right across from sign, drive down road to access area. If ya back your boat out and turning left from the ramp and go UP river 50 yards or so, the cove to your right is Connley Creek. Duh, there's a creek that feeds this area. Very productive and ya can just kill em at night in summer, and NOW is good too, for night stalks, but also in day. Have much, much fun!

I fished up on the upper end above the bridge wednesday was the last day but we caught about 15 keepers and they were all about 4 ft of the brush we jig fish so the best color for us was white and chart and blue glitter head with a chart tail good luck

savedbygrace. theyre both. the other day i caught some during the day in the brush. about 2 or 3 ft deep in the tops of trees. then i backed off and fished 25ft deep at nite and caught fish 10 to 15ft down all nite. ill be perfectly honest with you. everbody is fishing for the shallow fish now, and some good deep water fishing is being missed. look for deep brushpiles about 20 to 30 ft down near a creek channel. and fish those. the nite bite is heating up good too. since its been in the high 50's after dark the past week or so. good luck to you and your group.

I'm on staff at Grassy Branch Baptist Church. It's located in Asheville. It looks like we are heading down to the big lake rodhiss tomorrow...i hope that the weather's good for us. But just getting out on the lake will be a blast as always. God Bless Everyone!!

Well i thought we were going to "tear" them up!! We went down to Rodhiss today and well on about the 3rd cast i caught a small crappie. Then i threw back out and in about 30 seconds i had another. We caught them for about an hour but the majority were small. We only caught 9 keepers. We never did find connely creek but we'll try to find us a map before next time. They hit really well until about 10 and then they shut off.. Either they figured us out or they moved and we just couldn't find them.
