Sounds like fun. You gotta get a better looking 1st mate's, he's probably what scare the fish away
Thanks for the report
We and Teamhooksetter fished Badin for the Operation North State event - had a good time. East side of lake was pretty clear, but the river side was extremely muddy. We rode up to the dam, and looked like all the spillways were open except for maybe one. The current down through the river was crazy.... But the catfish were feeding! We fished a little in the mud up near the dam; put out some minnows and had two blues in the boat within minutes. One was maybe 8-9 lbs and the other measured right at 15 lbs.
Back on the clear side we found some crappie biting at early morning in 18 fow back in the long narrow cove near the boat ramp. But once the sun was bright crappie were pretty scarce for us tight-lining.
Caught plenty of perch, though. Got on a couple schools of nice filet-size perch. Fun to catch and a lot easier to remove the hook than the little ones.
