I used to catch them around the log jams when I fished there. Seem like they were less than 10 foot deep most of the time, time of year didn't matter.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

There used to be a bunch of log jams from about mid lake to the river section at various depths. They usually held some nice cats too.

I fish it here and there for crappie, have to be there at the right time and in the right place! I recommended the social be there, to see how many of these guys could figure it out. Would be interesting to say the least. Toughest lake for crappie I have ever fished, however, I have caught a few nice ones here and there.
Fishing is a science, study, experiment, fail, and succeed...then start over tomorrow. Yeah I'm a science guy.

Grew up fishing it as my home lake. The crappie are huge and hard to find. With that said once you find them, it is a lot of fun. I have tried pulling jigs, but it is tough with all the structure. They seem to be only around certain trees/stumps, etc. You can fish 10 that look the same and catch nothing off 9 and 10 crappie off the last one. If they are near the bank, throwing a curly tail jig to the bank and reeling it back in can be very productive as well. Patience and slow have always been the key for me. Look for trees or stumps on points with a fairly good drop-off. Don't look for 40 or 50 crappie days. More like 10 or 15, but they will be nice. I did get into them in the river end last Dec and me and a few buddys kept 80 nice ones. Most I have ever pulled out of there.
