Default A few trips to Jordan

My wife has gone through some physical problems this fall/winter so I haven't gotten to do as much fishing this year as normal, but have made a few trips over to Jordan and one to High Rock. I've caught fish all over the lake, but mostly in deeper water which was a surprise to me with the mild winter we've had. Had the chance to fish with just me and Zach one day and most of the rest I have been taking my preacher and other friends from church. All my winter fishing is done tightlining minnows on a double hook rig.

Fished January 14 with just me and Zach. Since he's been working full time and I work every other weekend we just don't get the opportunity fish together much. So glad now that I fished with him every chance we got while he was growing up. Fished the 64 bridge area moving around a bit until the wind got up and we had to tie off to the bridge. Ended the day with 185 on the clicker and kept 40 nice ones for a "Critter Cookin" we are having at our church next month.

My preacher had never been to High Rock Lake so I carried him and his son down there. I hadn't fished High Rock for crappie in probably 8 or 9 years and found the main lake pretty dingy. Tried a couple of the spots I fished back then, but I guess the dingy water had em tight lipped. Found clear water in Flat Swamp Creek and found some willing fish. Ended the day with 114 on the clicker, the preacher kept about 30 for a family fish fry, and his son caught the biggest at just over 15".

February 18 I took Maggie, and a buddy from church I grew up with and his boys. Maggie and I got there 1st and we hit 64, White Oak bridge, Noname Creek, and Farrington bridge catching some at each spot. Picked up Ben and his boys at Seaforth around 1pm and hit 64 and the "S" curves. Picked away at them all day and the boys had a good time going fast across the lake, chasing gulls, and reeling in some fish. No big ones, but ended up with 75 on the clicker which I was happy with considering the running around we did checking spots, the wind and boat traffic running every where. Also caught 3 nice white bass as well.

This past Monday I took my preacher and his boy along with another young man from our church and enjoyed an absolutely beautiful day on the lake, especially for February. We fished the 64 bridge, Farrington bridge, Ebeneezer bridge, and the "S" curves along with a few other little spots catching a few fish at each one, but had the best luck in the "S" curves. Nicholas' goal was to beat his cousin's numbers from Saturday and we accomplished that, although his cousins only fished a 1/2 day. LOL We ended the day with 144 on the clicker and 26 crappie in the cooler all over 10 1/2". We also caught and threw back a few yellow perch as well.

We caught at least 20-60 white perch each day we fished too. The fish seemed to be really scattered right now. Enjoyed seeing a few guys from here on the lake and meeting some new faces too. Looking forward to the spring.

Way to go, spreading the joy of fishing with other folks. I know that as a kid a fellow across the street from me, took me fishing and as say I was hooked. Here where I live they have a weekend put on by Ducks Unlimited. They give the kids a tackle box pole and reel. Lunch. One of my very young cub scout went with our troop, taught him everything I know(which aint much) but he had the time of his life. He is still fishing and becoming a Eagle scout.

It goes up by the Parker's Creek Campground on Jordan. There is a one-boat ramp over there for campers to use.

Freddie Sinclair (Slowtroll on here) is a guide on Harris and Jordan. Google his name and you can find his website.

"GREAT TRIPS, how much are the guide trips going for these days."

I'm not a guide, just love fishing and taking friends out. I've heard Freddie Sinclair is really good and a fun guide to fish with.

Went Friday, February 24, with my buddy Jesse and we caught 109 crappie on the clicker with a 15-20 bream and 20-30 white perch.
