Default Question about white verses black crappie?

I love to pull crank baits for crappie. I would rather do that than anything else and it is getting to the time of year that it can be very productive with them suspended and scattered before they move into bed. I recently moved to lake Tillery near Albermarle. Only bad thing about tillery is that it is mainly black crappie as is the next lake badin. I know white crappie are much more likely to hit crank baits verses black. What is the closest lake that is mainly white crappie? I dont mind driving a ways. I go down to wateree and hickory striper fishing often so don't mind driving a couple of hours for good fishing. Thanks for any info guys.

Thanks. From some of the pics looks like there are at least some white in High Rock. More White or Black in High Rock?

Cwright, I have caught crappie in High Rock with the crankbait, I have an article saved on my computer at home that details where in that lake the best areas are for that style of fishing, PM your email and I'll try to send it to you buddy.

tuckertown and highrock, i practice trolling cranks there before heading west to troll cranks, on high rock one rod might have a crappie smaller than the crank and the next rod might have the biggest one u have ever seen come out of the rock, honestly though on high rock its probably a 50/50 ratio of black to whites u catch on cranks, i tend to get a better avg size out of tuckertown, and a higher percentage of whites

To me Tillery has some of the best crappie fishing. The crowd is pretty low key, except on the holidays and during the bass tournaments. Not sure of the black to white ratio, but the fishing there is always better than Blewett Falls. Reach out to JordanLimit, him and Charles have fished there for tournaments, and they can help you with what ratio they find.
Fishing is a science, study, experiment, fail, and succeed...then start over tomorrow. Yeah I'm a science guy.

Cool I was under the impression that they did not work good around here.
