I arrived at the marina yesterday and used a canoe for a few hours. When I got on the water , it was fine , but soon it became gusty. As a result , I was blown to the far side of the cove , below a saddle that appears during low water periods. Whenever I would attempt to move , the result was the same. I exited to drag it toward a point , and got back aboard. I am using minnows , and so far , have a 4 pound channel for the efforts. After landing the fish , I noticed the wind had diminished . I paddled toward a houseboat to block the breeze , but it kicked back up before I arrived. Back at the saddle , I tried calling the marina , but service was lost when I moved as much as an inch. The instant I got service , the calls were dropped. I examined options to extricate myself from the area , such as dragging the canoe to the opposite side of the saddle , but decided against it. The shoreline ranged from a 40 to 90 degree angle , walking back to the marina was not possible without climbing equipment. After 3 hours fishing/being held hostage , I saw a pontoon , and flagged them down. They were nice enough to tow me back to the marina , and their dog was excited as well. After this , I called it a day. Hopefully today will be less windy , based on forecasts , this weekend's wind would max out at 7MPH , it had to be at least 15 yesterday. The lake was whitecapping in the open areas , and nearly tipped the boat once. I'll stick to the shore today , there were fish biting yesterday but my concern was getting out of that saddle. I'll add more as things progress. I am waiting for sunrise , it is 22 degrees outside currently.
