I've learned to use nothing but the DI. Like you said, the DI is amazing. Very seldom do I anchor up anymore unless it's crazy windy or sometimes when I have the lights out. I'll take some side images the next time I'm out. Those are pretty cool too and I'm still learning that feature.

DI is my number #1 screen when it is over 10' deep. It's nice to know what is going on around the boat, but I MUST KNOW what is happening under the boat. Here's a shot I took today on Jordan. Looks like 5 or 6 predator fish feeding on the rear of this huge school of baitfish. There have been numerous times over the past couple of years that I have told Charles to get ready for a bite and sure enough, it happens.

My DI is not as powerful, I'm sure. But, it will show structure, as I said. I'm going to experiment with it some more. Maybe I don't have it on the correct setting.

THEY ARE SOME GREAT SHOTS,BUT THE REST OF YOU GUYS REMEMBER THAT THOSE SHOTS WERE TAKEN FROM TRUE DI,WHEN USING DI ON SI HUMMINBIRD EXCEPT ONIX WHICH JORDAN LIMIT IS USING, THE PICTURES ON DI IS COMPUTED FROM SI AND MOST OF THE TIME WILL NOT LOOK LIKE THESE PIC.LOWRANCE SI HAS TRUE DI ,SURE WISH HUMMINGBIRD WOULD DO IT ON ALL SI UNITS.I HAVE A 1199 AND I PUT A 859 DI ON CONSOLE WITH IT SO I CAN GET TRUE DI AND SI AT THE SAME TIME,MUCH BETTER PIC THAT WAY

Can I make a screen shot with my map chip installed or do I have to install a memory chip?

Depends on how many card slots your unit has ... so if there's only the one slot, then you would need a memory chip to capture a screenshot, since the map chips are "read only" and won't allow new info to be added. Your User Manual should show you what sequence & combinations of buttons to push to get a screenshot.

If your computer doesn't have a card reader, you'll have to purchase the card & reader as a "kit". Micro SD cards & reader kits are not very expensive. I bought a thumb drive reader, adapter card, and micro sd 2GB chip as a kit, online, for less than $10 ... several years ago ... and prices haven't changed much, since.

Our Onix has two card slots--one for the GPS chip and one for recording screenshots and saving routes/waypoints.

Best shot I've ever taken. Crappie school on left and brushpile on the right.
Fishing is like pizza.......Even when it's not that good, it's still pretty good!
