Default Harris Lake - October 16

Wow, what a day. We fished for a couple of hours with nothing to show for it. We were sitting at a small point when a nice man and lady eased up and asked if we were crappie fishing. I said "Trying to!". He said, "Follow me and I'll show you where they are! THOUSANDS of crappie!". So, we followed him a short distance and we came up to a flat with a dropoff into 25-30 fow. It was packed. My son and I immediately hooked fish.
We caught 29, a mix of mostly perch. Some of the perch were 8-10 inches. It was our best day ever, thanks to that kind gentleman who helped us out. Thanks, man! To top it off, we left around 2 p.m., JUST when the wakeboarders were arriving! Had a tire blow out on the way home, managed to limp in next to the Wal-mart. Had a spare, but my jack was gone. Bought a jack at Wal-mart. It's all good! Oh, water temp was 68 warming to 72. Lake up a couple of feet. Holleman's ramp is closed. (All ramps at Jordan are closed).

Went yesterday too. Didn't know about the ramp closing until I got to the bait shop. Had to drive down to 42 and launch which cut into my limited fishing time. Got there shortly before 5 and fished till about 6:15 and caught 22 in that short amount of time. Caught 4 fatties about 13-14". So it looks like not all the perch died off. Fish are very hungry and packing on some weight.
I will say the cove for the 42 ramp is absolutely loaded with shad. There were schools everywhere.

I remember you. Was wondering why you didn't stick around. But, those fish were on the move, so I thought
you might not have seen them.
