Congrats Dennis and Charles,you guys really deserve this.
What a Awesome Day ! The Lord brought us , 35 mph wind gust sustained about 20 out of the Northwest . And hey it even snowed one time today ! 25 teams Qualified for the Championship and 17 Teams showed up to fish . All I can say is the guys who showed up and fished are some real Fishermen. They battled the elements that were presented to them and they fought with passion and determination. And some Nice fish were weighed in. They could fish either Jordan or Harris lakes or even both in this Championship and some did. One lake provided more wind protection than the other. That lake was Jordan Lake ! As she gave up the Winning Weight of 7 fish weighing 9. 57 lbs and a big fish of 1.69 lbs caught by the Team of Dennis Reynolds and Charles Henderson! I dont think there is a more deserving team than these guys as they have put out and worked hard to learn about crappie fishing . Congrats on a awesome victory! As they took home the $1000.00 first place prize money ! 2nd place went to the Team of Jimmy Perry and Jeff Williford with 7 Fish weighing 8.93 lbs and the Big Fish of the Day of 1.81 lbs. out of Harris Lake and they won $300.00 . 3rd Place went to Robbie and Keith Johnson with 7 Fish weighing 8.56 lbs and a Big Fish of 1.76 lbs out of Harris Lake . They took home $200.00 . The 4th Place Team was the Father and Son Team of Frank and Jay Garrard fishing at Jordan Lake with 7 Fish weighing 8.06 Pounds and a Big Fish of 1.68 lbs and took home. $ 115.00 . 5th Place was won by Red Boat Tony Auclair who beat the clock by 1 minute getting in the weigh in line to weigh his fish. He had 7 fish at 7.99 lbs and a big fish of 1.72 lbs and took home $100.00. A $100 was also won by The Team of Kenny Moody and Monte Justice with the Big Fish of the Year with a fish weighing 2.485 lbs from Jordan Lake on 3/12 We gave away lots of prizes and a Special thanks goes out to all the Guys from Ridgecrest Outdoor Ministry of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Durham NC as they set up and cooked for the Event and Fisher of Men Bass Tournament Series Central Division Director Ron Duffy and his Crew provided the Weigh in Scales and sound and team weigh in results. Bass Pro Shops of Cary who donated prizes . Thank you Lord for another great year . We prayed to God and thanked Him for His Son Jesus and what He did for us on the Cross. We shared from the Book of Matthew about the Signs of the times. And that we need to be ready. Thanks again I love you guys . Take care and may God continue to Bless you ! So long and until next time ! May your lines always be Tight ! - from the Bigeyecrappieman!
Congrats Dennis and Charles,you guys really deserve this.
What a great report! You'd have to be some tough fishermen to produce on a day like yesterday. Glad everyone made it safe and sound.
Thanks Rod for all your hard work brother!!!
Thank you Rod for devoting all the time and effort it takes to do something like this and you did a wonderful job. I a[so appreciate your messages at the end of the day. It just kind of makes me stop and think about this world around us and where it seems to be headed. There will be a special place in heaven for you and you are very deserving and my hats off to Charles and Dennis, I see you guys all the time and we just havn't met. You handled the hardest day of fishing that I have ever tried to deal with. We packed up and went home, something we have never done. Great Job Guys and hope to see all of you next season. Rod, Thanks for the all you do putting these on. I had a blast and cannot wait for next year!
A little explanation about the buzzer beater weigh in I had. This was the first year I decided I was going to fish the series. Maybe the $1000 inspired me LOL. I decided to approach this with the Yogi Bara attitude of "Its not over until it's over" Well Maybe I should have concluded 15 minutes earlier!
In the creek I was fishing, The morning started out with the wind blowing directly up channel. Not bad, just enough to move the boat. I was up in the back of it. {I'll say here, If you want to catch catfish, go back there and fish for Crappie!} Well as I was fishing the wind made a 180, picked up and started blowing down channel. Now I knew the wind was coming and the spot I picked I knew would be out of it, but since it was Catfish City, I had a backup Plan.
It's good to have a backup plan, however that was believe it or not THE THIRD TIME I SHOULD HAVE STARTED FISHING AT SPOT B!!!!!! {This goes to show, now matter what, there is always something to learn!}
On the way to spot B I noticed I was traveling somewhat with the waves and was getting splashed on every so often. I got into spot b and started catching fish though. It was somewhat sheltered so I said to myself (Listening to the wind blow) "I'm staying here the rest of the day" At 3 sharp I packed up and made my way back. It was BAD Rough folks! I really had to muscle the boat to keep to going where I wanted to, and the boat splash was blowing right back and into my face. When I got back to Farrington, Tired, hungry and soaked wet, Water rescue was putting in and Firemen were at the end of Martha Chapel road. I don't know what happened but I hope whom ever it was was OK.
On the way I had some minor car trouble, That it to say, the cars in front of me would not get out of the way! Made it to weight in JUST IN TIME! It was an awesome feeling having Charles, Dennis, and Shane help me get my fish out of the boat and over to the scales! Thanks Guys!!!!! and I Promise, NEXT YEAR I'LL HAVE A BUCKET!!!!!!!
