Holy Cow, imagine crappie fishing and hang into a Red.
I don't know if you've heard about this yet, so I'm posting a link to the magazine article. I'm sure there are plenty of folks who would like it, and plenty who wouldn't like it.

I think you should be able to manage what you have before you throw in another wildcard.
A lake near San Antonio has been stocked with redfish.
Sounds kind of of like Stripers, another saltwater fish they have found can live in fresh water.

I just read a little about this in and e-mail from NC Wildlife. I like to eat drum from the ocean.
O.K. ...having thought about it. I think it would be a good experiment. If it did well, the surrounding area would certainly benefit. Does freshwater drum taste as good as saltwater? (No crabs in their forage)
I remember when Texas first stated stocking them back in late 70's early 80's. Never saw any real data on how it worked for them. It would be fun to catch them but I would be concerned about their impact on the native fishery. Looks like they would be in direct completion with Bass and Crappie. Then you got the guys who will risk taking them from one place to another. Lots of scary stuf anytime they start fooling with this stuff.
That part of "livewell stocking" is scary not to mention how hard it is to keep a fish from going downstream on their own through a dam. The catfish folks have been very effective at spreading flatheads and blue cast in what will likely become a detriment to other fish soon. If I remember right the next lake downstream from Hyco would be John H Kerr (Buggs Island) so I wonder how'd they affect the striped bass in there.
Wonder if they'd eat all the perch first? Might be good and then again might not. We can't even get stripers in Wylie, but we got perch. LOL
Hope DNR think before they do it!
