    The wife and kids got me some new poles for Christmas so that means lets go fishing.

    My wife gave me a 14 ft southern crappie rod and a very nice reel for another rod. I can't wait to try them. I am a fortunate man.

    Those 14' Southern Crappie rods are great. Balanced, picks up light bites easy. Ed Duke has a good product there, good luck.

    209 slabber - what reel are you using on those. I put a shimano 2000 on it and it is tip heavy.

    I've used those reels. May be a lil tip heavy as you say . I tend to believe that keeps in rod holders better. As for holding em, I don't know. Tight or long lining I prefer Mitchell Avocet in 1000 series.
