I have actually seen this before. How many people actually have one of these and would you recommend it to a friend?

I only ask because with years of scuba diving in my background, I am familiar with the concept of light absorption in open water. I have seen first-hand how red is the first color to go as you start to descent and how quickly it goes away. Does this work on the light absorption principle or some other concept?

No matter the bait or lure....their will always be a good, better, best color in it. And their will be a color that won't draw a bite under any conditions. This is heresy for some but I say fish do not see things the way we think they do. The science behind trying to discover "how a fish sees" is not conclusive or certain in my opinion. It would be most interesting if you would report back on your findings.Sorry but I only bought one package years ago...it was the Tennessee shad..my memory concerning my success with them is not good, but I did not buy them again which says something.

I would add if you have not used saftey pin spinners before on your jigs...be sure and get some and try them occasionally. You will typically need a heavier head to compensate for the lift the spinner gives the lure to fish the same depth as without the spinner. But their are days the spinner ( gold or silver) can make a world of difference....and yes sometimes it matters which color spinner. (and size) This also applies with the roadrunner head.

The spinner somedays makes a difference on if you catch no fish or maybe a few fish...or you load the boat. Not always....but sometimes.

Tip em with the nibble whatever you do....

I guess the crappie starve on days when "baitfish" isn't the proper color. Maybe we should start a program where we net baitfish and paint them the correct color so the fish can get some food on that day!

All kidding aside I find the discussion interesting but sometimes I think we put too much thought into it Maybe if I was able to go fishing often enough to experiment with color selection I could be convinced.
