Sounds like you been wearing them out on Hickory man. I'm going to follow you around the lake and pick up your stragglers. Good choice on the rod holders. I think you will like them. Def. post some pics after you get all the holders on and the bait tank it.

Sounds like you are on the right track. We fish Jordan, High Rock, and little on Badin for stripers. Jordan and Badin had bad fish kills several years ago, but are starting to rebound. High Rock doesn't have as many, but seem to be better quality. My brother has the same boat you got and when he got it I didn't think I'd like it, but after fishing in it I wouldn't mind having one myself. His is a 16', but I'd want a 19 or 20'. Right now I have a G3 1860 DLX center console and love it. I too would love to see some pics of your completed boat. I built a tank out of a 50 gallon drum too. I had a bought a Grayline and just designed it to match that. My home made tank has more insulation and more water so on big trips where I need a lot of bait (ie. Roanoke River in the spring) I use it, but usually I use one of my Graylines as they are smaller.

How did you insulate your diy bait tank? I really need to do that. Catching shad now for flatheads, but with the temps so high after an hour most are dead.

Teamhooksetter pm me a cell number and maybe we can go fishing together one weekend. Love to talk about live bait. Which end of the lake are you on. I am lower end near the dam. Also catching some near Rinks dam.

I used pipe insulation like they wrap pipes with in commercial properties and then wrapped that with a vinyl sheet from the same supply house and riveted the two ends together. The blue barrel is one of our first ones, and the white one is my current one that has the vinyl.

I have 12 of the driftmaster duo's on our boat. You will really like them. Tough and versatile!

They shipped Friday. I got 14. I am making my t bars out of a 1 inch thick aluminum plate 3"x3". Threading a 3/4 inch aluminum 18 inch rod into it so I can remove and welding a 2 foot 3/4 by 1 1/2" aluminum stock tapped so that I can run either 3 or 4 holders per bar. Hope everything is ready by next weekend. Ordering more rods tonight.
