Thanks for the report
Went to Hickory last night with some leftover minnows. We anchored up off the main channel in about 30 foot of water. Anchored up around 9 and pulled lines at 11:30.
It was slow, as usual, but size was down for me. Fished a new spot, about 1/2 mile down lake from 127 bridge. Ended up with 8 crappie and about the same number of perch. Had a couple of 13"+ fish, but rest were quite small - 7-10"
Water temp was ~85F and caught most fish around 15' deep.
The bite should pick up soon as cooler weather comes,My luck has been bad all summer at hickory
Went out early Sat morning to Hickory and could only get 4 decent size crappie to jump on the jig! I found em on deep tree laps off the main channel, this is where I have found em the last few times out during the daytime. Have not done any good at nite since early June. It has been tough fishing for em but like Hillbilly said they are there, ya just got to go hunt em down, only a few here and there and it is time to go try another spot (hence the name spotrunnin) This is what I have been doing here lately, trying different areas and not relying on my go to spots hoping they will be there cause for now they are not!!!!! Keep on fishing cause it will get better!!!!
Difference between day and night: Day= one rod, one jig/Night= Many rods & a bucket full of minners![]()
