    Default Lake Waccamaw

Hey all, Been away for awhile. GOD delivered me from not one but two life taking illnesses. May I praise him here? We moved from Cary, NC to Goldsboro, NC on Jan 5th. As many of you know I have fished Kerr Lake where we still own property and Falls and Jordan. I have not been Crappie fishing in this area but am familiar with Lake Waccamaw. My Pastor and I plan a trip this Wednesday coming. Is there a better choice than Waccamaw and closer as it is about 2 hrs from Gold City? My boat is a 17 Ft Duracraft Pro Crappie with a 40 HP. They say some of the better spots here requires a smaller rig. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks, GKC

The Black River, though you gotta know where to go. Sutton Lake. Greenfield Lake (catch and release). Creeks off of the NE Cape Fear. Those are all good down east crappie spots. I went to Waccamaw last weekend. There's a report a few posts back. The white perch have started feeding, so good luck getting a bait past them. We caught one crappie and about 50 perch. Greenfield is really good for just catching, and there are some pigs in there. You'll be limited to a trolling motor, but that's all you'll need anyway. Good luck.

Thanks friedfish, maybe the closer spots would be the better choice. Did you use gigs or live bait?

Depends where I'm at as to bait. PM me your location and I'll give you some GPS spots tomorrow.
