I've not fished either lake in a couple of years so I can't help you there. I will say worry about the quality of the fish and not the numbers. A limit is a limit whether you catch 20 or 200.
I was wondering if there are any Crappie mentors out there. I've been fishing a long time but just cant seem to put the numbers in the boat. If anyone would like to go show me the ropes im willing to learn. I live in Raleigh and have a Center console and fish falls and Jordan or anywhere you suggest. Any help would be appreciated.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
I do a tiny bit of guiding, my slogan reads" with an emphasis on teaching as well as catching" if your interested give me a holler and well work something out. Just not anytime soon, its turkey season.

As a 20+ year crappie guide on the Catawba chain of lake I advise you to rent/buy as many crappie fishing videos as you can find. Youtube is another great avenue for videos and information. Buy good electronics and learn to use them (very important). For numbers of fish in your area and a much easier way to catch them, invest in a few night fishing lights and spend some time fishing at night spring/summer/fall/winter. Where you catch 20 during daylight hours it could be possible to catch 100 in the same area at night! Always pay attention to baitfish location. If there isn't any bait in your area there won't be many fish (also VERY important). The more time you spend on the water the more you will learn and the more fun you'll have. Enjoy.....
