I wanted to go out and give it a try at Badin, but the wind changed my mind. Didn't want the frustration. I'll be posting Badin reports when I get back out there. Shotgun
Any reports from the Yadkin chain? I hear a bunch of talk about Jordan and how the prespawn is cranking there, but nothing from the Yadkin. Are guys not catching anything or just not going?
I took my 4-yr. old son out to Badin Saturday afternoon for a few hours and we got skunked. We found a few new brush locations, but couldn't raise any bites. Neither did the other crappie fisherman we met at the dock. Is it just me, just Badin, or just a bad day? Did anyone else go this week?

Badin has some deep suspended crappie biting. They are mostly in coves but not all coves have crappie. I haven't heard of any around brush though. Most are around 15-25 feet deep.

The bite in Tillery has been off and on. I started picking up some nice size crappie about a week ago on Tillery long lining. This week has been a different story. We fished this morning until the rain started with only one keeper. It will pick up. We are looking at making a trip to Jordan later this week.
I only fish the two best days of the year, when its raining and when its not!
I have picked up a handful in Tuckertown, but in two (short) trips to Badin, I've got nothing to show for it. Tons of bait and catfish hanging around, but none of the brush, even deep brush, seem to have crappie on them.
I may give Badin some time, since I clearly don't know what they're doing at the moment.
They have been biting pretty good from what I have heard from my uncle that has a place on badin. Most fish I have been catching (not at badin) are in full prespawn pattern even though the water is still cold and would make you think they are out deep. Try the cove past RR trestle before you get to tuckertown dam on the left. There is a ditch that runs from the main river channel into the back of that cove that always holds fish this time of year.

I'm going to say that most are just driving that extra few minutes to Jordon. Its hard to fish the chain and fight all day for a mess of decent keepers when you can go to Jordon and have a limit in 3 hours.
