Fished from the bank for a couple of hours after work. Used minnows on slip corks and casted Yum white curly tails and a small panther martin inline spinner. Caught 3 keepers on minnows, one keeper on the Yum curly tail, and lost my PB crappie right at the bank on the panther martin spinner. Also caught 4 or 5 throwbacks on the minnows. The fish I lost while trying to pull it up on the bank was easily 16" and 2 lbs+. Those tiny treble hooks just couldn't hang on to it. There was cursing involved. This is a tidal brackish creek and it was high tide and the fish were shallow ( less than 3 feet) and holding onto cypress stumps. Very unusual behavior for that body of water this time of year. The one that got away was a true heart breaker, especially since I actually had it on the bank when it broke loose. All I could do was resentfully watch it flop back into the creek. Oh well, that's the breaks. Sorry, no pics today.
