Default Dont let them work on boat!!!

Took my boat to tri county marina when I first got it to get the water pump fixed. It had been setting for most of the time for 5 years the guy I got it from took it out 4 times in that long. They replaced the plugs put new needle and seat in carbs and replaced the enpeller in water pump. Had this done about 3 years ago not had boat out much and it never seemed to pump water good so I thought well its an old motor guess its just slow. Had it out 2 weeks ago and it wouldn't pump any at all at speed so couldn't afford to pay another $200.00 for some one to put a new water pump in so my brother and I took foot off our self the enpeller they had put in was broken and one blade was in line so we got it out and went to try county to get a new one $27.00 I told the guy at the counter that it had only been in it not quite 3 years he told me that's about as long as they last in the motor I had, well I didn't know that. So I took the new one home to put it in got it in foot and started to put foot back on. My brother wanted to see that the pipe that goes up to the motor was straight and in line he saw something up in the pipe I took a wire put a crook in it and pulled 6 pieces of the old enpeller that I payed them to replace the first time out of it. Guess they never even looked in the pipe or even tested it when they had done the work. I cleaned out the pipe and it pumps the water fine now!!! Never will they EVER touch another thing of mine. BEWARE GUYS!!!!

Anything is possible I guess. I have had them work on my boat a couple of times over the past 10 years and have been satisfied with the work they did. I am not very mechanical when it comes to working on motors or boats so I have to get someone else to do most things for me. I have been disappointed in the outcome several times over the years, some my fault, some the mechanics. Any time you work with you hands and mind you are subject to make mistakes. I guess I am just one of those folks that is glad someone knows how to work on my things and I don't have to buy new every time something breaks. Sorry you had a bad experience.

I bought a new $40,000 boat/motor/trailer package from tri county years ago. I had lots and lots of trouble with the engine. Of course it was under warranty. Basically, for the first two years I owned the boat, tri county had the boat for all but about three months. They'd let the boat sit in their lot for months at a time before they would work on it. Eventually, I hired a lawyer to help expedite things. She made them wish they had treated me a lot better. I know of at least one other customer of theirs that got the shaft, too.

It boils my shorts every time I think about the ordeal I went through and their lack of concern. I would say more, but this is a family oriented site. This thread has ruined my day.

glad to hear she got them straightened out for you. When I told that guy that they put the enpeller in that's when he said oh they only last about that long. I think if I had said 3 days instead of about 3 years he would have told me the same old crock of (S**t)!!!!
