Spent alot of time trying to figure out my electronics. . Picked up a 798ci hd from
GM website for 650 plus 50 rebate, my first experience with si, n definitely on the down
side of the learning curve so far.... had lots of interference while running my 597ci di at same
time (transducers on same plane on transom). Is there a fix or am I asking too much to be able
to run both?
Good luck to all !
nice report
Hey Mayberry. I just ordered my 798ci last week and expect it in tomorrow so I can't help with specifics on the unit. I have been reading a lot info. on http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/ as it seems to have a lot of great info. on there. I'm planning on moving my current unit from the console to the bow with my transducer on my the trolling motor and mount the new transducer on my transom and have the unit on the console. Is this possible in your boat? I read an article on the forum where a guy was having interference w/ the si just from the drain plug sticking out. He added a transducer mounting block and that corrected the issue. I would think if the drain plug was interfering then the transducer w/ signal would be even worse. I would get everything out of the way of the 798 transducer and see if that helps.
nice fish
In humble reverance to the GREAT I AM! THAT I AM!
My guess would be they are operating in the same frequencies, therefor the interference, I know that my Elite5 DI doesn't interfere with my Fishmark 320, but they do when I am running my indash 1260 flasher, you might try what trefyn says and move the transducer to the trolling motor to get separation of the two.
Thanks guys will try that and def a helpful website, thanks for taking the time to reply!
Ran into this with running a 998 and a 597. I put a pc11 power cable on the 597 and an rf choke on power wire also. Pc11 has a choke built in but the other one helped more. I still fet a little interference when running both units at same to e by no more trolling motor Interferenxe. I turn the sonar off on my 998 and use it for fps when I'm up front watching the 597.
