    Default Buckhorn report

Bite was slowwww. Between two of us caught 20 or so and a few lmb's. Lost a hog at the boat due to not retrying my rig. Stupid me that crappie was 2 pounds or better. Water temp was 54 degrees. All fish came from 13 to 15 fow. When we saw bait on the screen we caught fish. Had to keep moving. Fish were running a drop off next to a shallow road bed. We fished from lunch till 5. Such a pretty day to fish.

Buckhorn is in Wilson. It's not a huge lake but it's got good character. It's 10 bucks to launch a boat or five bucks if you live in Wilson. I always see lmb fishermen and few crappie fishermen. It's a killer lake in the spring for crappie and white perch. Nice steep banks with rocks in a few places and lots of rip rap on the old road beds.

Boy, those Buckhorn crappie don't have to worry about me coming after them. I just looked it up on mapquest, it's 4 hours and 35 minutes away. P.S. That's sort of a joke. If I lived 5 minutes from the place, the crappie wouldn't be too worried.
