Thread: Lake James Friday Night

Did not have long to fish since my sweet 17 year old daughter was graduating high school at 9 am this morning, but....
Dropped anchors last night in James at 8:30, water temp had risen 6 degrees this week to 79 degrees. Only stayed 3 hours, pulled anchors at 11:30, caught 43 crappie. Did not catch as many big fish this trip, only had @ 10 quality fish. Skeeterdude had best fish of the night at 13.5". Took a while to figure out, last 2 trips all our best fish were right off the bottom, last night, kept catching small fish deep, started playing with minnow depth & suprise, bigger fish were at top of water ! All of our bigger fish came from 4' to 10'. Anchored in 31' of water & caught all on minnows. Threw several different colored jigs with no luck, only wanted minnows last night.
