Default Advice on New Fish Finder Desired

I am in the market for a replacement for the Lowrance unit that came on my boat After 7 years I have had enough. It has never worked right from day one and the service department at Lowrance was no help at all. They passed everything off as something some one did when they did the factory install. Yet I have read where others have had the same problems with the same unit.

So, I desire any and all recommendations on a new unit. I would love to have one that would give as accurate depth while at full and cruising speed.
So let me hear from you.

Two weeks ago, I installed a Humminbird 788ci with a shoot thru the hull transducer on my buddies Stratos bass boat. It draws a very clear (and I think accurate) bottom picture at 62 mph (gps speed). There is a very small amount of noise or something on the screen at that speed, but overall I am extremely impressed.

    One word------Humminbird.

Any humminbird. I will never own a Lowrance/Eagle again. Some guys love'em but I'll stick with my 'birds.

I agree with what's previously stated I have a 300xt wide side that is 20yrs + that I move between john boat & Ranger trolling motors and it works real well as far as depth accuracy and side finding fish. I have a 597CI on the dash(gps, temp, speed, depth) the depth reads between the two units are spot on when trolling.

Any unit can break down, customer service is what I look for now. I left Lowrance years ago because of their so called customer service. I have been running Humminbirds ever since. I had great customer service and a quick turn around.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I wouldn't have anything but Humminbird. I recently bought the "fishin buddy" depth finder that clamps on the side of the boat to use at the pond. I went to turn it on and it didn't come on. Called Customer Service and got it fixed.
