Thread: Share a fishing Hole!!

Hello fellows... I'm located in The Southpoint area of Durham...

Thanks for all the replies... I guess I should have been more clear, sorry for that. I do not have a boat, most of my fishing is in remote spots I have found by wading, I 'm a little older now and the long hikes with all the bells and whistles have taken a toll on this big fella, I hit the banks like the Average Joe & Josie, tough sledding these days... any info is good enough for me.. Thanks for the tips and info very much appreciated. for you guides that are reading this, I have several guides I use, one for Big Big Stripers and Muskie, and 2/3 for Small-mouth, I normally book anywhere from 5 to 10 trips a year depending on my finances since I do contract work... currently looking for a Guide that can put me on some very nice Crappie, Yellow Perch and Walleye that I can eat! i live in the Durham area and travel well, most of my guided trips were on The New River, The French Broad , and Smith Mountain Lake.. My favorite guides are Capt. Mike Coley (Savage Strikes Guides) Capt. Forrest Pernell (Greasy Creek) Asheville Drifters.. and several others. so if you're a guide or know of someone very good, please link me up with them. Thanks!!

Welcome to the boards BFK. I'm assuming youre fishing from a boat so if I was new to a lake I'd buy a map, do some looking, and start exploring the backs of different creeks hoping to find some stained wter. Once that is located I'd spend some time idling around weatching my graph looking for bait and/or fish. Once located I'd drop my lines and begin longlining. If I didnt have any luck I'd start over looking somewhere else.

You could also ask for some help about figuring out which "creeks" might be the better places to look........but for a new member asking for a true hotspot from someone on the open boards?!? That aint gonna happen...sorry! For every member tht looks at the post I'd bet there are 5 lurkers reading that same info. Those lurkers aint willing to contribute anything but they're there to pick up every crumb of info they can get. If you give out hotspots over the open board then you'll find yourself out of a good place to fish before long. Good luck with your searching.

Pete's advice is the best I have seen yet. I fish mountain creek in Lake Norman and I spent a whole day and a lot of gas going to each and every dock from slanting bridge on back. I not only checked for brush, but water depth too, cause generally the deeper docks are productive, brush or not. I also watch my depth finder probably more so than the lake especially in the smaller side creeks and locate a little brush. I have stumbled on some that way, a lot of which I havent had the chance to fish.
