Nice caught and thanks for report.
My family and I hit James Saturday evening around 6:30 and got set up. Lots of folks fishing so until dark we had to deal with a lot of waves. A little after dark things settled down and we started catching some crappie. Water was 67 and reasonably clear. Using minnows we caught 35 crappie and kept 15, one good smallmouth and I don't know how many white bass. We put all the bass back except 3 that were hooked really deep and we will try them for supper one night this week. A very nice evening with just a little wind, but not enough to bother us. Most of the fish were caught from 9:30 to 11:00 pm. the rest of the evening was slow. We were very happy to just relax and have a nice peaceful evening. Good luck.

Nice caught and thanks for report.
Nice catch and thanks for sharing.
Very good trip, like the pics
Back in the middle '80's I caught a lot of crappie in Lake James. Haven't fished there since I moved away. It is a beautiful lake. Thanks for the post and for stirring up old memories.

Very nice work logs. Sounds like a good day on the water.
Thanks for sharing your day with us.

Nice fish and thanks for the report logs. I'm going to James this coming Sunday and maybe another day next week. I'll be staying at our hunting cabin around Table Rock area. I plan on putting in one morning at Black Bear and crappie fishing, maybe the Linville access also one day. Any pointers? Never been on James.
Hello. You will like James, its a clean beautiful lake. I haven't been fishing James during the day only at night, but a friend caught some crappie during the day on the wildlife fish attractors. There are two in black bear cove, as you are putting boat in water look across lake toward marina and up to the left, one is right above the marina, also as you heading out of black bear look to your right and you will see one. Go around the point on your right and in the next cove there is another one. Also hunt some brush piles under water and try those. I can't help you on the linville side much, I don't fish it much this time of year. Good luck.

Thanks logs. I troll for crappie mainly. Any chance of picking up a walleye in that area?
