Very nice report and a good day for team mikefish. You just can't beat the show that nature puts on for us from time to time.
I love it and thanks for including such good details in your report. Good luck to you.
Mike, Zach and myself took off to Jordan this morning for some longlining. Beautiful morning with patchy fog. Saw 5 deer in a field with a light fog all around them on the way to Farrington. Got on the lake and lines in the water about 7:30 am. We could barely see the land through the fog, but made our way to where we wanted to fish slowly. Temp getting on was 69.9 and we put lines in when we got to 5 feet of water. Fished the first creek all the way up to 2 feet and picked fish up scattered all over. Lost a good fish early, but later determined it was probably about a 5lb catfish as we caught half a dozen of them through the day and they all fought the same. As we were working up the creek Zach spotted a big doe standing in the woods about 25 yards from us. It milled along and picked at leaves for about 20 minutes as we worked by. Got to the back of the creek and Zach thought he was dragging a log, but it had a shell . . . ended up being about a 15 lb. snapping turtle. Bit the line off as I was reaching for his tail so Zach could get his picture with it. LOL A little later we heard a turkey gobble up in the woods and everytime I would make a crow call he would cut loose. Heard him most of the morning. Bite slowed down in that creek so we left with 33 in the boat and headed to another creek. Picked up maybe 10 or so in there with most coming in 5' of water. Left there after about an hour or so and hit a little rip-rap with nothing doing so we headed toward our last creek. So much pollen in the air it looked like green fog over the woods and the lake had several spots where it just covered the water. Went by an Osprey nest and Zach caught one just as we were passing it. The mail flew off as we approached, but as we passed, the female flew down beside our boat and grabbed the crappie as Zach was lifting it in. She flew around the boat with the crappie in her talons and Zach jerked his rod and it pulled the crappie free. As it hit the water the hook came out and the Osprey was back and gone with the freed crappie in a heart beat. One of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Caught good numbers in this creek and most seemed to be in about 4-6' of water. Ended the day with 103 crappie (with probably 20 or so being keepers), about 6 cats, 1 white perch, 1 white bass, 1 2 lb. largemouth, and 1 snapping turtle. We longlined double rig jigs and ran from .5 - .9 mph. Going to be interesting to see how the fishing goes over the next few weeks. Here's a couple pics. Biggest crappie just over 12" and several over 11".

Great report!
wow!
I wasn't born here, but I got here as fast as I could
Great report! Sounds like a day anyone would have enjoyed.
fantastic!! good pics and what a day on the water Mike!! sure had to be a good time!
Great job Mike and Zach! I would have loved to see that fight with the Osprey! The water looks pretty dirty in those pics. Must of had some good rains in the last week! Thanks for sharing.
Just get him on, then we'll worry about getting him in!
Yeah, I forgot to mention water color. In the backs of some creeks it was plumb muddy, others not so bad, and others pretty nice. Deeper main lake water looks good. All of this from Ebeneezer to Farrington areas and main lake, Parkers Creek included. The Haw River was running bad muddy, but we didn't go over to the Haw River side of the lake so not sure what the lake looks like over there.

Nice report. I love hearing about all the wildlife you encountered. Thanks for sharing.
Great report!! We did very well on Harris yesterday. Love the Osprey story. Would have paid to see it!!! It reminds me of my daughter dove hunting last year. The first dove that she killed, she was walking to pick t up and a red tail hawk swooped down in front of her and snatched it. She was not happy with the hawk..LOL
A bad day fishing is still better than almost anything!!
