My wife and her friend said that they were driving on 64 and looked out and saw what appeared to be an alligator. They saw the head that was about 2 feet long at a 45 degree angle. They said that it was going away from the bridge and were near the no wake bouys.
They also said that it went under water a couple of times too.

This was at the 64 bridge near seaforth.

    Are there alligators at Jordan.

ummm, not that I know of.......waters too cold I would think. Are you sure she's not trying to discourage you from fishing? lol.

Did it look like this Lake Kissimmee Florida gator? I like them, gives ya something to watch while the fish aint biting. I caught a lot of crappie around the gators. They did have one in Hope Mills lake last year, hmmm.Name: DSCN0647.JPG

    Crappie Soldier,
No she is fine with it.
I did go out today and should have stayed home. Caught 3, 2 of wich were snagged and 1 keeper. Saw others catching fish. I guess just try, try over and over until I get it.
I was 3 clicks off the bottom under the bridge.

Sorry today wasnt much better. You'll get the hang of it. I guess you should have tied your boat to Chiefs, sounded like he was on them again.

I would be all for some gators in jordan, it might keep some of the ski boats away during the summer months, lol.

I have some friends that used to go to NC State and they used to have pet alligators that lived in swimming pools in their apartments until they got too big and then they let them go in Lake Jordan. I dont think they could survive in that cold of water either but there was one that lived for several years in a reservoir in Concord NC before someone finally killed it. Possible I would say

    "Jordan Lake Monster" :p

Well since they are cold blooded perhaps they can, heck they have then at the NC Zoo.. I suppose you could can a wanderer come up the cape fear, walk over the dam...

    I doubt it though..

A couple years ago there was a gator in Lake Hickory and it was suspected someone had it as a pet and it got too big so it was dumped in the lake. The Wildlife officials were sure it would survive the winter but the next year it was still there! I haven't heard anymore about it but I seriously doubt an alligator can survive the cold here.

Just happened to remember a few years ago some guys fishing on Lake Norman one night claimed they saw an alligator but they also admitted to have been drinking!

With the so called "Global Warming" there are several species of aquatic vegatation that were once only seen from middle Georgia down through Florida that are showing in lakes and ponds in NC. Maybe the Gators are heading North too. I guess the theory of a pet gator being released is plausible, but if it were true wouldn't they hibernate like other reptiles and amphibians do in cold winter climates?
