I use the walmart everstart usually last 2-3 years and about 85 dollars
Had good luck with the basspro ones usually on sale late winter around 80 bucks
i use dekas and now all my friends use them too, hard to beat, i have yet to run there largest trolling motor battery down in a day of hard fishing against the wind, they say there gel batteries are even better, can't say haven't had to buy one. i usually get 5-6 years of good service from them, though they have climbed in price just like everything else.
everstart from walmart seems the way to go. 18 month free replacement and all you do is tell them yours is no good and they tell you to go get one. they dont check to see if its really messed up or not but they seem to be the best for the money regardless of the free replacement. but as with all batteries taking care of them makes them last.
I agree with youngin I used to fish bass tourneys every weekend and with charging when you get off the water they hold all day and have gone 12 hours straight using them in a day they last
I have really liked my wally world special.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
I bought a wally world last winter. Been good so far. I would definitely get in writing the warranty though. The guy in automotive found me one with a sticker on it that showed a warranty. He said all the new ones had no warranty!! Said they were putting them same class as lawn mower batteries now because so many people brought them back and got new ones. I dunnoooo...just check it out.
Slabs, I have been using the Wal-mart Everstart marine deep cycle batterys for the last 5 years now. I always get their largest series battery and keep the on-board charger plugged in at all times when the boat is parked at home. I have had 2 of these for 4 years now and they are still going strong. I bought a new one back in May for $75.00 + tax at Wal-mart. As long as I continue to get the service from these batteries that I have had in the last 5 years It is the only ones I will consider buying.
I think the onboard charger/conditioner will make any battery last longer.
