    Default Jordan, Memorial day

I've been experimenting on Jordan and my father was able to join me today. We tried a place before lunch where I caught a couple on Saturday. We caught one 12" crappie before lunch and moved. We went to a spot after lunch that I've never fished and in two hours, caught the four in the pictures and three other ones around 11"-12". A storm was coming up and we got off the water around 3:00.

A little over three years ago, I sat in on one of Monk's workshops in Raleigh. I wanted to try this new way of crappie fishing and started working on it. I also found this website about a year and a half ago and it has helped me learn a lot more. For most of my life, crappie fishing was getting a cork and minnows in the Spring and night fishing during the Summer. In the past couple of years, I've been able to catch 14"-15" crappie in the Fall, Winter and Spring, but never in the Summer. Well, I caught two of the ones in the picture and Pop the other two. It was in the afternoon between 1:00-3:00 with ski-doo's and skiers zipping all around. I can't wait to try this spot early one morning without all the circus going on around us.

For a few details: all were caught on jigs without any certain color. I think they were all caught on something different. The water depth was 12'-15'. We caught lots of small crappie and white perch, but I didn't keep any count. The one to the right of the ruler is about the same size as the one to the left--it is hunched up some because of being bent in the cooler.

Were you anchored or trolling when you caught those Nice Crappie? Good thing you got out before the rain it sure came down for a while, could have been a wet one.

We were trolling. Forgot the GPS, so don't know how fast. The last big one we caught was with my trolling motor on high--we were trying to get closer to shore and get away from the circus. I would say most of the time we were going about 1.0 to 1.2 mph. The wind made things difficult a for most of the day.
