I followed the link to this article over in the OT forum. Interesting article. Below I have copied my reply to some previous comments in the thread as well as specifically to the article:

Whether or not he is currently proposing any legislation to undermine the use of public fisheries, I wouldn't trust someone from his [Obama's] political affiliation with anything related to outdoor recreation. Name something that Democrats have proposed in the past 20 years to make fishing less regulated and more under the of those who fish. And getting back to the current administration...I doubt he can manage a fishing rod any better than he can manage his office. I think it's important not to forget that that all public fisheries--just like roads and schools --are owned by taxpayers--as long as taxpayers vote to keep it that way.

Of course keeping this squarely on the subject of fishing (as in the above paragraph, I may have been a bit biased), remember that November elections are just around the corner. I know that when I step into the voting booth, I will strongly consider which candidates have people like us in mind--and I don't mean which candidate is making the most environmental promises that they can always relate to outdoor recreation if needed--I mean politicians whose track records speak up for those taxpaying citizens who love and understand this country down to the very last fin and scale. I personally don't believe fisherman should have to have to hire a lobbyist just to maintain the freedom of a freezer stocked with fish.
