I think the fish kill is mostly Shad. The water temp dropped to 37 degrees and that usually does a Shad in pretty quick. Same thing happened at Jordan recently, according to post on this forum.
If anyone has more info on the High Rock fish kill please post it.

Kellogg...there was one on the upper end of Second Creek I believe. It coincided with the huge sewage spill by Thomasville. The biologists determined it was the water "turning over" and not linked to the sewage the best I recall. It wasn't a fish kill of magnum porportions.

Yeah, I remember that one. I thought there was a more recent one. My life long friend, Ace, was telling me about a bunch of dead Shad on up into Abbots creek. It seems to occur every year when it gets really really cold for several days in a row.

I went over Abbotts at Hwy 8 Thursday morning...thousands and thousands of sea gulls were sitting out there on the ice and water...so I figured it was a shad kill.

The shad have been there heavy for over a month now. Specially creek side of the bridge. Caught a 7 lb striper there right before the cold snap. Water is warming up quick. Might have to try it out Saturday.
