the catch and release bass season is coming up this saturday so hopefully we can start going after them. I notice more action on the southwest side of the lake. I havent really fished the inlet much.

i just moved down here from california so im new to fishing, and to the lake. i havent caught any crappie but i kindof know the spots where other fisherman say they are. I try to get out atleast twice a week now that the weather is getting good. All I have been getting is yellow perch, and a rock bass. I think I had a walleye bite the other day. I was fishing ultra lite and man the thing almost bent my pole in half.

Hey RichieT, I fished that lake alot before leaving that area two years ago. Here are my tips on Honeoye lake. Walleyes are easiest caught trolling rapalas and rebels in the shallows at night. Its a popular sport and I think tommorrow is the opener. Starting the first week in June start fishing the weed edges using a jig and a worm . drag is slow and fish on the bottom. You will also catch bluegill and yellow perch that way also. As for crappie, check out the north west corner of the lake in 6 -8 feet of water. thats one of the first places they hit in the spring. next try the north east side just north of the marina. This can be hot this time of year. Moving down the lake on the east side start fishing just north of Log cabin point (cant miss it, biggest point on east side). Just north of the California Ranch is a stump field. Im sure you are seeing boats there. There are stumps in 2 - 8 feet of water. The crappie also do well on the south end. When you get the first good day of 70 degrees air temp. you better be in the swamp. Action can be HOT when they are there. Try fishing the south west corner in 6 - 8 feet of water. I like using fathead minnows and fish them 4 - 5 feet down unless you are in shallower. I miss Honeoye and the good fishing there, however I have found a bunch of good crappie fishing here in Tennessee. I hope this helps. Chub

    hey guyz,

I've been starting to fish for bass now that the season has started. I've got big mouth bass the last 2 times ive been out. They were around 2 lbs. Today I caught a 21 inch walleye that weighted around 3 lbs.
