There are three small lakes here in Northern Cayuga County, and all three are very similar in size, depths, structure and available cover. All three have large populations of black crappie, largemouth bass and pike.
    They are (Ease to West):
    Otter Lake
    Parker's Pond
    Duck Lake

There is a $5.00 launch fee at all three lakes, shore fishing isn't really an option unless you know someone with a cottage on the lake.

Otter Lake also has walleye, stocked yearly by the DEC, and Duck Lake has tiger muskie stocked annually by the DEC.

Duck Lake, by the way is where the state record black crappie was caught in 1998: 3 lb 12 oz.

I fish Parker's pond the most, simply because it is closest to the house. In the spring, I coach Little League and am starting to do the normal spring stuff around the house and yard (long, long honey-do list), so I try to maximize what little time I have for fishing by minimizing my travel time. I can load and unload the boat and all my gear and be on the water within 20 minutes from the moment that I decide I've got a couple hours to fish.

Otter Lake is an additional 5 minutes further away, and Duck 10 is an additional minutes further away. I fish them all, but fish the pond the most in the spring.

You make a good point there Mark. I never really considered that fishing pressure might increase and cause problems by posting too many details... I'm thinking from here out I'll want to be a bit more discrete. Thanks for bringing it up. The last thing I want to see is decreasing populations in my honey-holes.

Good luck... you'll need it after last week's cold, wet, nasty weather put the bite off. Wind was out of the SW all week and cold fronts marched through almost every day.

I told George "Welcome back" when I saw him Saturday.

Lake D has been very good to us recently in the south end near the channel. the weeds are up and they are starting to scatter now. They were stuck on the wood but have started spreading out. The average is around 9 1/4 ".
