Default Had to renew boat registration and decided to wet a line since I was there.....

Decided to wet a line yesterday (Saturday) since I was at the lake to apply new registration sticker. Lake was flat with nearly no wind. Hit the area where I normally fish and perhaps 5 minutes later, a gust of wind hit!!! ... I felt like I was auditioning for a remake of Gilligan's Island!!! ... Needless to say, I cut it short as trying to anchor, much less slowly drift wasn't happening. Located fish on the finder in 14' suspended about 5-7 ft. Couldn't get them to hit anything!!! .. Nothing! .. (didn't have any minnows to try as the bait shop is closed due to renovations. No matter what I tried/used. Different color jigs etc.

Water temp was 44 degrees. Question, is that too cold for the crappies to bite? ... slow presentations wasn't happening at all (due to the high winds).

Better luck next time. always good to go out!!!! ... I'll give it a week or so, hopefully the temps will become steady thus warming the water some.

NYHellbender, you couldn't keep me from Crappie.com and last year I didn't get a chance to wet a line at all! This year, God willing, I've vowed to return to form. Renew the passion I had before my lifetime fishing partner, my Dad, passed.

I've purchased so many things from members and sponsors here. Really miss this site!

Hope to post some pics the next and future times I go! Us NYorkers do fish. Especially those from NYC (I travel upstate)... LOL

Can't wait - I've got Friday off. My son and I are planning to go to a private farm pond. Hopefully the crappie and catfish are hungry.

All the lakes and ponds around me here in Otsego County are still frozen over. Where are you all finding open water? Thanks.

The ponds in the area are finally opening up. You must be several days ahead of us in warming temps. Good luck fishing and I will be trying everything to get some in the jon boat. Take care.

Catphish - Get you some wax worms and tip some Road Runners or Bobby Garland Baby Shad with them.

    Good luck on the water.
