Finally made it down to the lake and got the stickers put on the boat for the lake. Then fished the lake from 10:00-4:30. My youngest Son went with me and we didn't do to bad. My Son wanted to see the new trolling motor and fish finder working. We had pretty good luck and brought 15 fish home. We caught Crappie, Bluegill and Yellow Perch all day long. I even got a drum to bring home.
I was surprised that the water temp was only 67 degrees all over the lake. The males still had their tux's on and the females still had some eggs in them but didn't have the bulging bellies. I think most have spawned out already. The up and down temps have got them confused again this year. The males were about 12 inches and the female were close to 12 and a couple were only 11 inches. What really surprised me was the size of the Bluegills and the Perch. When I fillet them out the Bluegill fillets were as big as the Crappie fillets. I haven't seen that in a long time.
The males were out in 10-13 fow and the females were in 5 fow. Had a great time for the first trip of the year. EB
