There is talk of Bo going to MI. Bo had his job until Sunday when he refused to make changes to his staff. He said he would go before he would make changes to his staff. Bo has wanted out of the Ne program since his Brother left. You guys think that a 9-3 season isn't too bad but if this was in the Corporate field he would have been gone a long time ago.
He makes 3 million a year and is one of the top paid Coaches in the Country
He has a state of the art weight room and playing facility.
He has a lot of team talent
He isn't that great on recruting
    here are his stats:
    71% winning percent
    9-17 against ranked team
    0 top 5 finishes
    0 top 10 finishes
    0 conference championships
    0 major bowls
    0 major bowl wins
    0 undefeated seasons
27 losses and several of these were non-conference games
You say that a 9-3 season isn't to bad but look at the schools that beat him.
In the Corporate World do you think he would have make it 7 years with that kind of record
    DO-GOODER EXTRADINAR :p

I think there is a better chance that Bo will end up with another coordinator job, before a head coaching job. I know Bo will find success and he will turn into a great coach. Unfortunately, we just didn't have the patience to let that happen.

But whats done is done. As for the next coach, I only have to say this. No matter who it is, the guy has 2 - 3 years top, to get the team to Bo's level. Meaning 9 win seasons. After that, the guy has another 2 or 3 years to get a conference championship win. Not a visit, but a win. If not, fire the guy. Why? Because that's what we gave Bo, it would be a crime to make an exception for this new guy.

In the end, Shawn took a gamble. It can either go two ways from here. Up or down. Either way we have to live with the decision.

I think most people in Nebraska think the next coach will be Scott Frost, but I don't like that move. Why? Because you are going the no-head-coaching experience route, again. Yes I know he has been successful at Oregon, yes I know he played for Nebraska and 'knows Nebraska football'. But c'mon.

Jim Tressel is another name I have heard frequently. Head coaching experience, yes. Championship wins, yes. But he comes with a heavy amount of baggage.

Bo Pelini ranked #24 according to USA Today nationally on his salary. Kirk Ferentz makes about $1 million more than Bo Pelini. Bo was the 5th highest paid coach in the Big Ten.

One other name that has been thrown out there is Craig Bohl. Coaching at Wyoming right now, but for $800k. A $3 million salary would look appeasing to leave Wyoming for the Nebraska job. Pretty sure UNL can afford the buyout for his contract on top of Bo's.

Just for information, do not eliminate Scott Frost from consideration!

Tom was 35 y/o when named Head Coach at NE and Scott is currently 39 y/o.

Tom played 3 years of professional football from 1959-1961 ( 1959 49ers and 1960-1961 with Redskins). Scott played 6 years of professional football from 1998-2003 ( Jets 1998-2000, 2001 Browns, 2001-2002 Packers and 2003 Bucs ).

Tom was an Off Assistant from 1964-1968 at NE ( *1964 he was an unpaid assistant with his only compensation being able to dine at the athletic training table ). Scott was a GA at NE in 2002 and K St in 2006 and he was an assistant at Northern Iowa from 2007-2008 ( LB Coach 2007 and Co-DC in 2008 ) and Assistant Coach at Oregon 2009-2012 ( WR Coach ).

Tom was the OC at NE from 1969-1972 while Scott has been the OC at Oregon from 2013- present.

Scott Frost is one of five candidates for college assistant coach of the year (Frank Broyles Award)

I don't think he did as well at Oregon State as BO did at Nebraska.

Listening to the press conference right now....
Riley is very well respected nationally, but that does not count on game day. His and NU's success will depend on the coaches he hires. Has to hire coach or coaches who are great recruiters as well as great at developing players.
Lots of rumors out there on who the coaches will be. He has to get out quickly to recruits to confirm current commitments for the 2015 and 2016 classes...hope the current players and recruits buy into the new coach/coaches....Dead period begins like December 15.

You know, one thing that struck me during this whole thing. Is what has happened to college football nowadays. Because of polls and rankings now, its less about what your record is and more who you beat. Would Husker fans been as upset with Bo if he still had the 4 loss seasons, but was able to beat highly ranked opponents? For example, lets just say that the Huskers did beat Michigan St. and Wisconsin, but lost to McNeese St. and Rutgers? Would we still be ticked off about the season? Would the Huskers be ranked higher?

I don't think about the past that much, I move on. Which is why its difficult for me to come with an answer to this. But I wonder what others think about the notion that its not what your record is at the end of the season, its who you beat that counts. I tell you what though, I don't care for the talk that Mike Riley WILL do all these things at Nebraska. You don't necessarily know what any coach is gonna do or how his career will work out. You anticipate that Mike Riley will use this opportunity at Nebraska to take them to the next step. If not, well then, history will more than likely repeat itself. But I'll always be a fan of Huskers, 100% of the way.

Now as far as the coaches go, I think the same thing can be said about Bo, he was just a little bit to stubborn to bring in better guys. But you can't say all those guys on his staff were terrible. I think the off the radar recruits we brought in and the ability to send them into the NFL is a clear representation of how those were developed. I think guys like Ron Brown, Rich Fisher, and John Garrison have done relatively well. I think Kaz and Warren have done a well enough job. While I do like the change in the special teams, i don't really know who is responsible for that turnaround compared to last year.

I don't know who the rumored assistant coaches are, with the exception of Oregeron. I do know there is quite a bit of wiggle room for better assistants on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. i thought Tim Beck getting paid $700k was too much for him. So I do hope they fight a better guy for about the same price.

Its about playing well in all 3 phases of the game for 4 quarters. If you're into ugly wins against over matched teams and ugly losses against comparable athletes then Bo's your guy. Besides that Bo's a whiner and pollutes the minds of his players in order to bolster himself. Bo's gone GO BIG RED

Bo is gone & 7.5 million dollars to the good. I am a die hard Ole Miss follower but really like what Nebraska use to be. I will be watching next year to see how this all works out.

I did see a video of Bo's address to the team. Seems to me that the AD did not spend much time with the program.

I personally think the players liked Bo and were not intimidated by him.

Maybe, just maybe, the Alumni Association should take a closer look at the AD.
